New Voices Detroit 2006

Here's a few photos from the New Voices Conference in Detroit. New Voices chooses about 12 fellows and gives them financial support for the social justice cause of their choice. I have to admit, this conference really opened my eyes. I thought I was just going to take some photos and do some interviews. It was so much more than that.
I've always been somewhat socially concious, but never thought about doing something. I feel a bit selffish for focusing on my career and things that make me happy. There are many people in the world that don't have the opportunities to live like i do. I realize it only takes a little bit of effort to be socially active and make a difference. I don't know if this conference has changed my life completely, but it has made me think about what I can do help the less fortunate and under represented. Take it from me, we are all VERY lucky to have people, like the fellows at the conference, working for social change.
